Happy New Year 2017! This is the year of the Fire Rooster, the sign of dawn and awakening. This is also a year for hope and optimism.
Despite all the turmoil in 2016, with terrorist attacks, identity hacks, layoffs and surprising political changes, recent polls show that most people are looking forward to 2017 with optimism. The Associated Press poll showed that fifty-five percent of Americans said they believe things will be better for them in the coming year than in the year that just concluded. The Morning Consult Poll showed 72% were hopeful for 2017, and 61% were optimistic.
Internationally there was a similar sense of optimism. In Britain Paul Mason of the Guardian, explains why he is optimistic for 2017. Recognizing the reality that Brexit will happen He writes “It is not pessimism that makes me write this, but optimism. Optimism that, if we adapt quickly to the reality of the new world order, we can continue to fight for human rights and social justice.”
The international Business Times supports The Guardian, with the Randstad Workmonitor survey which shows two thirds of workers saying that their employers will perform better in 2017 and half expecting the UKs overall finances to improve despite the uncertainty of Brexit. This Survey also showed that India, China and the US were far ahead on the optimism scale than the workers in the UK, the survey found. While in India, 94% of the respondents said they were optimistic of their employers in 2017. This figure stood at 83% in the other two countries, China and the US. In the US, respondents felt that their President-elect Donald Trump's policies would boost the bottom line of their employers. The Moscow Times also reports that a recent poll from the Levada Center found that 53% of Russians hope that 2017 will be better than 2016.
Speaking for myself, I am looking forward to 2017 with optimism. I believe 2017 will be successful for the IT industry based on the Forbes Insights Survey that was released this last November. This report showed that Digital Transformation is the highest priority for both IT and LOB executives. There is a new world order and executives believe that digital transformation will help them deal with the new realities of business. I see this transformation taking place in my company, and in our customers as well our partners and competitors in the IT market. This will improve our overall productivity and create opportunities for new goods and services.
Based on this note. I wish you all a productive and prosperous 2017!
